☀️ Update- Forest School Tomorrow ☀️

I’m sure you are all aware that tomorrow will reach around 27 degrees.  We will of course be keeping in the shade of the trees as much as possible.  We are asking that parents ensure their children arrive with sun hats, sun cream applied and a water bottle.  The children will have their water bottles with them at all times and we will be encouraging them to drink frequently.

Parents of these children are welcome to join us at 11am for a picnic in the Forest. These children won’t need to bring a snack but will require a water bottle and packed lunch in a named bag. Those who don’t usually attend preschool on Mondays are welcome to join us with their parents at 11am. Please bring a picnic.
We will finish at 1pm.
Please could we ask that all picnics are nut free in line with our preschool policy.

AGM Meeting Monday July 18th 6pm

As you are probably all aware we are a Community Preschool which is overseen by a committee. Now that life seems to be getting back to some sort of normality we are looking for new committee members to join us. Our current committee are due to step down at the end of term and in order to stay open we require new parents to sign up.

The preschool can not remain open unless we have a fully running committee that comsists of at least a chairperson, a secretary and a treasurer.  We have already had someone step forward to take on the chairperson role which is great. We also leagally have to have an annual AGM meeting which is now due.  Please see poster below for details of the next meeting that will be held at West Hoathly Primary School (not at preschool).

What being on the committee involves :

Before Covid we met around once a month in the evening at a local pub or someone’s home to discuss Preschool business and to help organise lovely fundraising events. Being on the committee is a great way to meet other parents within our community and to help raise much needed funds to keep our preschool running. We’ve had some amazing events previously such as Band nights, paella nights and Burns night. We really can’t wait to get planning another fabulous social event. If you have any questions then please feel free to ask us at pick up or drop off.

Thank you so much for your support x

We are excited to share with you that from September we will be extending our preschool session times.  They will be Mon-Thurs 8.45 until 12.30 and also 8.45 until 3pm (term time only). Please see the poster below for more information or come and have a chat with us if you are thinking of extending your child’s hours.

New Preschool Supervisor

I’m sure you are all aware Issy is retiring in July and we will be joined by Claire from September.  Claire has already joined us for a couple of sessions to meet us and the children.  She will be joining us again this Thursday (30th) to spend some more time with us if you would like to pop in at drop off to say “Hello”.

Preparing your child for starting school

We often get asked at this time of year what is expected of children going to school.  We have found this article by PACEY (Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years) that might help answer some of your questions. Here at preschool we have been helping to prepare the children for many aspects of going to school; being independent, being social and tidying up are just a few.

🦷 Dental Health and Heathly Eating 🍇

As part of the Early Years curriculum it is important for us to reinforce the need for good dental hygiene and for us to encourage heathly eating.  We often discuss this at preschool and have fun activities for the children to learn about this.
