West Hoathly Pre-school is a small, friendly Early Years setting at the heart of the local community. Catering for around 20 children between the ages of two and four years old, we offer an engaging, broad and balanced early year’s curriculum based on the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. Our ultimate aim is to provide a positive, safe learning environment for all children to grow and develop through play. To see more of us in action please visit our News Blog and our Curriculum page.
The Pre-School meets at West Hoathly Village Hall on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings, during school term time only. Government funding enables us to offer free places to all 4 year olds, most 3 year olds and some 2 year olds.
Whilst independent from them, we have close links with West Hoathly Church of England Primary School and this helps children when they move into their reception class.
Each year, between April and July, we run Thursday afternoon sessions for the rising fives called Cygnets. During these sessions we help children prepare for the transition to school by practicing skills such as changing into their PE kits and eating lunch. During the second half of the summer term, we visit the Primary school every week to get used to the classroom and have hot lunches with the older children. The teachers from the school also visit us giving the children an opportunity to get to know them in a familiar setting.
We have been awarded Good by OFSTED.
