New Observation Sharing

I have just been setting up your email addresses so that we can easily and safely share what your child has been doing at preschool throughout the term.  This is great for everyone to keep up to date with their child’s progress and keeping in contact with us.  There is also a place for you to comment or give feedback.  This is really useful for us to hear anything you have to say or what you have observed at home.

If for some reason you haven’t received an email please let me know.
Thanks

Becca

🥳HAPPY NEW YEAR 🥳

Happy New Year to you all!

We hope you have all had a lovely festive time over the last few weeks.  We are really looking forward to seeing you tomorrow and over the next few days.

This week we are going to focus on months of the year, cold, ice and appropriate clothing for the weather.

We are politely requesting that you use lateral flow tests before you bring your child in tomorrow, to help keep us all safe and preschool running.

Many thanks

Christmas

We had such a lovely time yesterday, watching Stick Man, eating party food, playing party games and two birthday celebrations.

We all wanted say a huge thank you for all the lovely cards, Christmas wishes and gifts.

Could we ask that if any children test positive for Covid 19 over the next few days we are notified.  We have a protocol we need to follow which involves us notifying local authorities.

A few recent pictures….

Last Day tomorrow!

Tomorrow we are having lots of Christmas fun and have invited all children to preschool. We would politely ask if you could lateral flow test your child before they come in.  We are asking this because the numbers of children mixing will be higher and the cases within the village are rising.  We want to do everything we can to keep the children and staff safe for Christmas.

Around the World

Can you help?

Next week we are looking at people around the world.  We were wondering if any parents  could spare some time to talk or show the children about somewhere else in the world that they may have lived looking at perhaps language, music or stories. This is part of the Early Years curriculum which encourages us to look at diversity within our community and the world as well as covering lots of other areas of learning. If you can spare a few minutes please let us know.

***REMINDER INSET DAY on Monday 29th Nov in line with the village school**

The last couple of weeks…

We’ve been caring for the dolls, washing them, putting nappies on and finding out what babies need to make them happy.

Some of us were drawn around and created our own super heroes or named where are feet, hands and head were.

We created a wreath for Remembrance Day. We talked about remembering brave people who look after us.

Looking at numerals and value.

Finding items with a certain colour.

At least once a week we have toast, crackers or rice cakes and practice spreading our own butter.

At Forest school we talked about animals that hibernate, we lit the fire, sang songs, watched the popcorn grow on the fire and created hedgehogs from pinecones and sticks.

We used our new scales to compare weight and talk about which is heavier and lighter using bricks, dinosaurs or whatever else we were interested in.

We read our friends stories.

Last week…

We talked about fire and how to be careful around fires.  We sang songs around our campfire, using our speaker we listened to the noise that fireworks can make.  After listening and watching fireworks some of us wanted to paint firework pictures. We had a fire drill which everyone was very good at listening and walking up to big school. We also looked at the sound that some letters make and tried to find them around preschool.

We use Jolly Phonics songs to help with learning letter sounds first rather than the letter names.  There are videos available on places like You Tube showing Jolly Phonics https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zvJKc0Ord1g.  The BBC also have Alphablocks and their app these also look at letter sounds in a fun way.

**New Forest School Date**

We will be going to the woods again on Monday 15th November.  We’ll meet as before at 8.45 at Pickeridge Farm, if parents could arrive promptly so that we can get everyone down to the woods. If you are unable to make it on the day please text or call to let us know on 07375 783059.  Please don’t leave a voicemail message on this phone.
