How to help your child at home

Dear Parents,

Many thanks to those of you who answered our Parent Voice questionnaire last half term. If you have not had the chance and would still like to please follow this link.

Parent Voice Survey

We will be meeting about the feedback in the next few days and will publish more information on any actions shortly.  However one area where parents felt they needed more support was in how to support their child’s learning and development at home.

We have therefore published a page on our website (follow the link below or look at the pages bar on the left hand side of the website home page) which will give you some tips and ideas.  If you would like any further information or guidance please feel free to comment on the page or to speak to a member of staff.

West Hoathly Pre School Parent Voice Questionnaire September 2016

West Hoathly Pre-school is very keen to learn your views, and ask that you take a few minutes to answer the questions on this survey. The answers you provide will allow the Pre-school to effectively reflect on its performance, and help make any changes that may be useful. Please answer each question by ticking the response you think most reflects
your feelings or opinion on each question. There is space at the end to
make any further comments you would like to include.

You do not need to identify yourself on the form. We really appreciate your help in this matter, and value everyone’s views. This will enable us to greater understand any weaknesses or strengths that may be detailed.

Please click on the link below if you would like to share your views with us.

Village Fair Hog Roast!

So many thanks to Lorna and Pete (Joshua’s Parents) for the fantastic Hog Roast they ran for Pre School at the West Hoathly Village Fair this summer.  It was a fantastic day. They raised over £500 which we will be using to buy some new resources to develop the children’s Literacy and Fine Motor Skills.  We really appreciate your hard work and effort, thank you!

Do keep an eye on the News Blog for information about other upcoming events and so let us know if you have any ideas about events we could run to raise money for Pre School.

Monthly Update

Monthly Update – May

The children are full of life, and are having lots of fun. Everyone is very well settled and forming good friendships.  We have free-flow between indoor and outdoor daily.  This means the children can choose where to find their activities.

We were fortunate enough to be invited to spend a morning in Jenson’s garden recently.  The children were taken on a nature trail as well as being able to play in the fields, and see the miniature ponies.  The highlight of the morning, I think, was splashing in the river.

We have held Cygnets sessions in the hall; these have been a great success.  The PE is the most popular part, and the children a learning to change out of, and back into, their own clothes, remembering to find their clothes where they left them.  In addition, we have been focusing on letter sounds and numbers, shapes and pattern.

Topics we have covered recently include Science – looking at gravity, floating & sinking, and “how things change”.  We made a volcano, which the children were fascinated by.  We have also been looking at different countries of Africa, Italy, Australia and India.   We have talked about their cultures, climate, animals and food.

Fiesta Night!

Many thanks to everyone who came to our  Fiesta Night. It was a fantastic occasion and everyone had a great time.  We managed to raise well over £2000 for Pre School which is amazing!  Thank you to all the committe memebers who put so much hard work into making the evening such a success.
