John Smith Fund

We have very kindly been given vouchers for all parents at preschool.  These are donated from the villages John Smith Fund.

‘John Smith Fund 2022

Costs are rising rapidly, winter is still here- please enjoy your voucher, and if you don’t need it please feel free to pass it on to someone else. If anyone is in need of more substantial funds, please contact Mother Nicol in strictest confidence: don’t be cold this winter.’

The vouchers will be placed in your child’s bag this week.

An Update

On Thursday we had lots of activities centred around Italy. Some of the children had been talking about their favourite food being pizza. From this we thought it would be great to make our own pizza.  This gave us opportunity to follow a recipe, to weigh ingredients, to mix, to knead and to independently choose our pizza toppings. We also talked about Italy and how some of us use different languages at home.

Esther created a lovely role play cafe area.  The children loved taking on the roles of customers, chefs and staff; writing down orders and making sure their customers were happy.

We have had a dance lesson.

A little bit of messy painting using hands, paintbrushes, sponges and cars!

We celebrated World Book Day! Bringing in our favourite books to share with friends.

Celebrating St David’s Day

More cooking on Shrove Tuesday.  Making pancakes and pancake races!

Looking closely at the spring blossom we found on a walk by creating tissue paper and felt pen pictures.

**Heating Update**

Unfortunately I’m afraid we don’t have good news; the heating cannot be fixed until tomorrow.  A reading was taken as staff left yesterday and it was 9c, this is well below guidelines for classrooms. We will have to reopen THURSDAY morning.  We will update you if there are any further developments.

**Preschool Closed**

This morning we have had problems with the heating system in the hall.  This has meant that we have not been able to heat the hall today. Unfortunately we will not be able to run preschool tomorrow morning until this problem is rectified. Please check your emails tomorrow for more blogs as to whether it has been fixed.

We are really sorry about this but we are trying to get this fixed as soon as possible.

Ukraine Collection

I’m sure you are all aware of the situation in Ukraine.  A group of local Mums are collecting items to be sent to those in need, one of our Mums is organising collections.  It would be lovely if you have any items spare to help them.

Nappies

Baby Wipes

First aid kits, plasters and bandages.

Toiletries, shampoo, shower gel etc

Sanitary items

Pain killers

Batteries

Torches

Candles

Sturdy supermarket bags

If you could bring anything to preschool (in a bag) for Thursday.

Thank you

An Update

As you are all aware Covid restrictions and testing rules have now changed.  As a preschool we have been very lucky and faced minimal disruption.  We thank you all for helping us to achieve this and for all your support.  We would really appreciate parents to continue not to bring children in who are unwell with any of the symptoms of Covid.  Whilst we appreciate we all want to get back to some sort of normal there are still members of our staff, their families and our community who are still vulnerable.

Before we broke up for half term we were looking at Valentines Day and who we love, writing letters, working in the post office, posting letters in the correct door numbers, and we posted cards we made for our preschool friends.
